Let me extend to you my personal welcome to our AutismOne Social Network. AutismOne is now the “one-stop-shopping center” for information about autism. We have the annual conference in Chicago, AutismOne radio, the Elizabeth Birt Center for Autism Law and Advocacy and now the AutismOne Social Network (and more to come).
Thank you for filling in your profile entries as these help people with common interests find you.
Helping you interact with others is one of the many things we can do for you. Now here’s something you can do for us. Log in on a regular basis and read the blogs and articles then write a blog yourself. It can be on any subject of interest to you, preferably with some relevance to autism but not necessarily. It can be short or long, whatever it takes for you to express your thoughts. If you have a question then ask it in a blog--people read then they respond. If you see something with which you agree or disagree then please add a comment with your thoughts. This is an open community designed to help and support. We like to hear all sides.
I am looking forward to reading your opinions in future blogs and/or articles.
With my best regards
Will Price, CFO

A Little About Me:

I'm an energetic 23 year old student with a passion for helping others. Eight years ago I began working for an agency called Community Support for Families where I worked one on one with developmentally and physically disabled children. I loved my experiences and immediately knew this was the line of work I wanted to pursue.

Over the last eight years I have had the opportunity of working with down syndrome, cri-du chat, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum, and other developmental disabilities as well as medically fragile children. I have worked with children up to the age of 22. I also have experience in nursing homes, and long term care units.

Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:

My love for autism began while working for a close family friend who’s youngest was diagnosed with autism. With this family I was given the opportunity to work closely with and lean from an IBI team. Here I was trained as a mediator. I was then able to travelled to community events such as play groups, 24 hour relay races and various parks. I was also asked to help with integration into day cares and school. I was given the opportunity to participate in various march break and summer events put on by autism ontario including the autism walk. Most importantly I was able to share my knowledge of awareness to other members of our community while providing life skills to this client. I am committed to helping improve the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as their families. I am passionate about learning, teaching and helping others to find their own strengths and abilities.

What I am Here For:
I have created this profile because I hope to find families in need of a care provider in the Ottawa area. I am willing to provide respite supports in whatever form the family may need. I am using this page as a networking spot. While I love working with the autism spectrum, please feel free to also forward my name and email around to friends who have children with other disabilities as well. I would love to find full time work but am having difficulty navigating my way around Ottawa's system.
