Hi! I am new in this site and I still have some problems navigating the site. I would like to thank you for the add and for leaving message. I appreciate it very much your warm way of reaching out to fellow parents with child on the spectrum. I hope I could learn more and get the support from other parents through this site. And I also hope I could inspire others in my own little way on my journey with my precious son and me.

Again, thank you!

Hi Rhonda, Thank you for your welcoming letter and friend invitation! If you ever have time, could you, please, share your experience on how you published the book? I made a photo project about autism and looking for a publisher... All my blessings!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm sorry you had to figure so much of this out on your own. I'm often grateful we're at least dealing with this at a time when there are so many resources.

can anyone tell me when the MMR vaccine will be separated again? Merck is vague and says approximately 2 years.
Is there any way of getting it sooner? Thanks.
Judy

It just occurred to me that when you upload any image, it automatically lands on the front page. I think if we encourage people to upload photos it will help people feel like they they have the important place they do in our community. When they see their kid's picture on the home page of this massive website, it puts their live and their story center stage. Thank you for working so hard to great incoming community members. It has inspired me to try and great at least a couple a day.

A Little About Me:

I am the mother of a seventeen year old son "Jordan" who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of three, He is my proudest accomplishment!
Currently I am the Chicago Liaison for "Autism International Association, Inc.
I have a radio program that can be heard the first Thursday of every month on "Autism One Radio." It is called Unlocking the Door to Autism.
Other involvements with Autism, I am a speaker providing workshops and conferences with a team of educators in the Chicago area. The Author of the book - From Autism To All-Star, (www.autism2allstar.com) a personal journal of parenting Jordan.
I also am a Parent Consultant, helping parents who are struggling with the educational system for the rights of their child.

Why I am a Part of the AutismOne Community:

I feel a very promising future is in-store for Jordan.
Through intensive work with special educators and related service providers, Jordan has effectively been included in our neighborhood schools, and has not needed the therapeutic educational setting frequently required by students with autism. Jordan aspires to attend college and become a sports broadcaster. This has been a long road for my family, if you can take anything from our experience and use it to the benefit of your own child, its yours to keep....

What I am Here For:
To share my personal experiences or what ever I can share that may assist you in your journey with autism.
Autism Help / Accomplishments:

My child was born in 1992 when I found out Jordan was three years old and there was nothing I could find on autism but doom and gloom.....
Two books provided me with some form of hope, Temple Grandin's first book (Emergence Labeled Autistic) and Donna William's first book (Nobody Nowhere) that was it! I drew hope from my own mothers experiences. My mothers youngest child was very challenged. My sister Sue was born with a rare form of epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and brain damage. Mother was told that Sue would be a vegetable and should be institutionalized.
Mother couldn't foresee that way of life for my sister Sue so she went to extreme lengths to help her, Going door to door asking for volunteers to help with therapy working 15 hours a day for 8 years non-stop therapy people in our house at all hours it was crazy... Guess what, The Doctor WAS WRONG, Sue is not a vegetable far from it.

My Daily Motivations:

I was told we manifest what we think ABOUT!
From that point on, I always believed and remained positive even when times were hard.

Goals:
I would love to continue to present to college students, teaching in-service workshops, and do what I can for anyone who might need my advice, I am a team player..... I rarely say no.... unless Jordan needs me at the moment. My main goal is to make sure Jordan gets into and though college.

Lets all help each other and work together this is a partnership not a competition.
